Ama Civil and Ama Training are embarking on a unique project focused on social and educational outcomes, involving the refurbishment of social housing stock earmarked for removal or demolition.
The project aims to provide:
-
valuable teaching and learning experiences for students by involving them in the demolition and renovation processes of the houses
-
meaningful employment and sustainable work for our rangatahi
-
a stepping stone for our rangatahi to begin their professional careers, within a supportive and nurturing environment where rangatahi can develop essential life and work competency skills while earning an income and working towards achieving a tohu.
The project is named Paetawhiti, which means to strive for distant goals. One of our aims is to teach our rangatahi that it is important to set goals but then it is just as important to work hard towards achieving these.
Ama Training is the training provider who facilitates the teaching and learning environment. Students will begin their journey by enrolling in pre-trade qualifications such as;
-
New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works – Level 2
-
New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction and Trades (Level 2 or 3)
As they progress and a willingness and passion for this industry is identified the aim is to promote the rangatahi into further qualifications such as a building or trade apprenticeship
To make this project a success Ama Civil has partnered with Stronghold Group. Stronghold Group brings its expertise in project management and construction to the table. As part of our commitment to community development and Broader Outcomes, we are proud to collaborate with Ama Civil and Ama Training to provide better outcomes for whānau, rangatahi, and beyond.
